Tomorrow at 9.00, MEPs will debate and vote on the state of play of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
A draft motion for resolution will be put to the vote following the debate in which Jean-Claude Juncker and Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator, will participate.
Following a decision of the European Council Special Summit held on 10 April 2019 to accept the UK’s request to prolong the Article 50 deadline, the UK is set to leave the EU by 31 October.
To enter into force, any withdrawal agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom needs to be approved by the European Parliament by a simple majority of votes cast (Article 50 (2) of the Treaty on European Union).
