Commission joins in celebration of International Youth Day, whose theme this year, “Transforming Education”, highlights efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible to all young people. Mr. Neven  Mimica, Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Mme Marianne Thyssen, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, skills and mobility of workers, Tibor  Navracsics, Commissioner for the education, culture, youth and sports, and Ms Mariya  Gabriel, Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, made the following statement: “Today we celebrate International Youth Day. On this occasion, it is important to remember that too many young people live in war zones, are out of school and face poverty, social exclusion, poor quality health care, inequality between men and women and the consequences of climate change. Providing effective solutions to these problems, ensuring lasting peace and building resilient and resilient societies in which young people can flourish are priorities for the European Union. To achieve this, the Union is committed to implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and integrating the 17 Sustainable Development Goals into its policies. In cooperation with the Member States and many other stakeholders, the European Union is enabling millions of young people, inside and outside the Union, to take their destiny into their own hands.”
