EU foreign ministers plan eleven billion euros worth of sanctions

A fresh round of sanctions coming for Russia. EU foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to discuss more export controls on Russia worth eleven billion euros. That’s as the war enters its second year this week. In the face of Western sanctions over the war in Ukraine, Russian authorities have revived Soviet-era brands, including the emblematic Kama bicycles and Moskvich cars. The aim is to be self reliant after many Western companies shut down their manufacturing sites in Russia. But if you look beyond the branding, you’ll discover Russia is struggling without foreign inputs. But Western companies are also being affected. Before the war, Russia was a key market for the manufacturing sector in the German city of Chemnitz. But sanctions mean that the affected companies have to look elsewhere for business.
