EU leaders welcome new Biden administration pushing for closer ties, while others less enthusiastic

The EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has summed up the mood in Europe after Joe Biden’s inauguration as US President by saying “the body is ready to reconnect with the United States”, after what has been largely described as strange four years in the transatlantic relationship.
