EU moves to label nuclear, gas energy as ‘green’

The European Commission has made public a draft law that would label some nuclear and gas energy projects as green investments. Nuclear power plants do not emit greenhouse gases, and they could be counted as environmentally friendly if there are detailed plans for disposing of radioactive waste safely. The proposal comes just a day after Germany shut down three of its six nuclear plants for good, and German Environment Minister Steffi Lehmke is calling the project a mistake. Is the EU trying to greenwash nuclear power?
