Is the US on a dangerous fiscal course?

The US Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the first time in a decade at its last meeting in July. Since then trade uncertainties have rattled investors. The Fed, under chairman Jay Powell, looks set to follow the European Central Bank and cut rates by a quarter percentage point. While Powell does not expect a recession, he says economic headwinds are growing. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has been using his Twitter feed to repeatedly demand a more aggressive monetary easing.
