ACP-EU: Climate, UN Security Council representation and humanitarian issues

From June 24 to June 28, MEPs and parliamentarians from 78 African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries will meet in Brussels.

The opening session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly will take place on Monday 26 June at 11:00 in the European Parliament and will be chaired by the co-presidents of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly – MEP Carlos Zorrinho (S&D, PT) and Mozambican parliamentarian Anita Rita Sithole.

The main themes on the Joint Parliamentary Assembly’s agenda are:

  • Critical raw materials, the energy transition, and climate change in EU-ACP cooperation
  • Hybrid threats
  • Reform of the United Nations Security Council
  • The humanitarian and security situation in Haiti
  • The humanitarian situation in countries affected by terrorism

Participants will vote on resolutions about:

  • Maritime security and the promotion of the rule of law on the oceans
  • The EU list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions and anti-money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CFT) third-country list
  • Strengthening parliamentary solidarity and political will on support of road safety in ACP and EU member countries, including safe infrastructure.
