Commission invites stakeholders to join the European Housing Alliance
The European Commission opened a call for expression of interest to join the first-ever European Housing Alliance, a pioneering initiative to rally stakeholders around efforts to address the housing crisis, which is impacting millions of Europeans.
The Alliance will help implement on the ground and in an inclusive manner the European Affordable Housing Plan, which the Commission put forward last December. It will bring together national, regional, and local authorities, as well as housing stakeholders and EU institutions. It will facilitate cooperation, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of best practices to tackle together the challenges of the housing affordability crisis across the EU.
Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, launched the call yesterday at the informal meeting of ministers responsible for housing in the EU, in Nicosia, Cyprus. He said: “At a time when the housing crisis is affecting communities across Europe, collaboration is more important than ever. The launch of the European Housing Alliance marks a crucial step in building a shared response to this fundamental challenge. By bringing together housing experts, cities, regions, local leaders and our Member States, we are creating a common platform to shape together the future of housing in Europe. Through this Alliance, we can turn shared insight into real action and help ensure access to affordable and sustainable housing for all across Europe.”
