Commission participates in Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group

Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis and Commissioner Gentiloni will participate in the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings which are taking place in a virtual format. The Spring Meetings bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and academics to discuss cooperation on building a resilient, green, and inclusive global economy. Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis will take part in the plenary session of the International Monetary and Financial Committee today where the he IMF’s Global Policy Agenda (GPA), current crisis, policy priorities for a transformational recovery, and the importance of global cooperation will be discussed. The GPA  proposes policy responses with regard to the global economy  and institutional issues, focusing on the role of the IMF. Tomorrow, Commissioner Gentiloni will participate in the IMF Managing Director’s Virtual Meeting with High-Level European Officials on Current Policy Challenges in Advanced Economies. Earlier this week, Commissioner Gentiloni also participated in the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors and the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings which are taking place alongside the Spring Meetings. These meetings discussed, among other issues, the coordination of efforts to overcome the current crisis, enhance resilience against future shocks, including pandemics, natural disasters, climate and environmental risks, support to low income countries and cooperation on building a globally fair, sustainable, and modern international tax system.
