Commission proposes new internal rules for the implementation of the EU’s agreements with the UK

The European Commission has today adopted two legislative proposals on rules and procedures for the implementation and enforcement of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement and Trade and Cooperation Agreement. The proposals establish a procedure to consult EU Member States prior to the adoption of any measure that may be needed to protect the Union’s interests under these Agreements. This follows a political commitment by the Commission, given at the time of the ratification of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, to propose a specific legislative act on this matter before 1 April 2022.
