Commissioner Breton participates in Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to discuss the future of connectivity

Today, Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, is visiting the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to discuss the future of the connectivity sector in Europe and to invite all stakeholders to contribute to shaping this disruptive transformation and reply to the exploratory consultation launched on 23 February 2023.
Commissioner Breton opened the Congress with a keynote speech on “Gigabit Europe – Getting ready to lead the connectivity revolution”. He is holding a series of bilateral meetings with institutional and business stakeholders: Pere Aragonès, President of the Catalan government; Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel and Commissioner Brendan Carr of the US Federal Communications Commission; Margherita Della Valle, CEO of Vodafone; Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel; Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm; Tim Hoettges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom; José María Álvarez-Pallete, CEO of Telefonica; Christel Heydemann, CEO of Orange; Pietro Labriola, CEO of Telecom Italia; and Greg Peters, CEO of Netflix. The Commissioner will also visit the European Quantum Space, the stand of the European Quantum Flagship initiative, funded under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.
