Commissioner Kubilius in the United States to deepen transatlantic defence ties
Andrius Kubilius, Commissioner for Defence and Space, visits the United States from July 17 until July 22 to strengthen the EU-US defence partnership at a time of growing global instability.
The visit will focus on closer transatlantic cooperation, EU-NATO coordination, and support for Ukraine.
The mission begins at the Aspen Security Forum, where Commissioner Kubilius will join key international security leaders to discuss shared challenges and priorities. He will then travel to Washington, D.C. for high-level meetings with U.S. senior officials, Members of Congress, national security advisors as well as the defence industry, as part of the EU Defence Night where he will deliver a keynote speech.
The visit comes as the EU ramps up efforts to strengthen its defence, reinforce readiness across the Union, and deliver long-term military support to Ukraine. The Commissioner will present key EU initiatives, such as the White Paper for European Defence and the ReArm Europe Plan/Readiness 2030, and underline the importance of a strong, united transatlantic front.
