Commissioner Malmström hosting European Trade Policy Day

Tomorrow, EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström is hosting the European Trade Policy Day in Brussels. The event will bring together a broad spectrum of speakers. Stakeholders from civil society, the European Parliament, trade unions, business and academia will put forward their views and ideas on European trade policy. On this occasion Commissioner Malmström said: “This day serves to think about how economic forces and new technologies are changing the context of trade, to how policy decisions taken by other economies affect what Europe is trying to achieve and to better understand what people in the European Union think about trade today. I am pleased that we will have such a broad range of views represented at the European Trade Policy Day.” The Commission aims to release a Trade Strategy in the autumn of this year. It is currently consulting EU Member States, Members of the European Parliament and a broad range of organisations with an interest in trade policy. Discussions during the Trade Day are part of this consultation process. The European Trade Policy Day is open to the press and will be live web streamed here. The full programme of the day as well as more information on the Trade Strategy is available online.
