Commissioner McGrath hosts dialogue on the GDPR
Tomorrow, Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, will host an Implementation Dialogue in Brussels on the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The dialogue will bring together representatives of business and civil society organisations to share their insights from their experience with applying the GDPR. Discussions will focus on ways to streamline compliance, reduce administrative burden, boost legal certainty and harmonise enforcement across the EU.
This dialogue follows initiatives such as the Commission Omnibus proposal to exempt entities with fewer than 750 employees from the record-keeping obligation under the GDPR, as well as the political agreement reached in June between the European Parliament and the Council to ensure better and faster cooperation between data protection authorities when enforcing the GDPR.
Implementation dialogues underscore the Commission’s efforts to promote the EU’s competitiveness by directly engaging stakeholders in policy implementation. President von der Leyen asked each Commissioner to host two such dialogues annually.
