Commissioner Simson in Czechia to participate in the 15th European Nuclear Energy Forum

The Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will be in Prague on 10 and 11 November to participate in the 15th European Nuclear Energy Forum (ENEF), which can be followed online here. The annual forum, which was founded in 2007, is an occasion for exchange of views with stakeholders on the opportunities and risks of nuclear energy. This discussion is particularly topical in the context of the energy challenges faced by all EU Member States as a consequence of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine  and weaponisation of its energy supplies. Participants include EU governments, European institutions and bodies, such as the European Parliament and the European Economic and Social Committee, representatives of the nuclear industry and regulators, electricity consumers and civil society. Commissioner Simson will deliver an opening speech tomorrow morning, in a session with the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, and the Slovak Prime Minister, Eduard Heger. Today, the Commissioner will also visit the Nuclear Research Institute in Řež, which is focused on the production of radiopharmaceuticals, and has a crucial role in nuclear fuel supply diversification.
