Commissioners Avramopoulos and Jourová represent the Commission at the Western Balkans Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial meeting on 7-8 December

The annual Western Balkans Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Forum begins in Sarajevo today. The Commission is represented by Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos and Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Věra Jourová. The Home Affairs session on Monday 7 December is focused on migration management, the response to the refugee crisis, the visa-free regime with the Western Balkans countries. Security and terrorism discussions will cover the tackling of foreign terrorist fighters, radicalisation and illicit use and trafficking of firearms. On Tuesday 8 December, Ministers will tackle the justice dimension of the migration and refugee crisis and judicial cooperation between the EU and the Western Balkan region against crime and terrorism. On 10 November, the Commission adopted its Enlargement Package including country progress reports re-confirming that the rule of law and an independent judiciary are a key priority for the Western Balkan countries.
