President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, hold a videoconference call. https://www.eudebates.tv/debates/eu-p… #eudebates #coronavirusitalla #Covid_19 #coronavirus #CoronavirusOutbreak #Corona #COVD19 #Health #EUCO #COVID #Eurogroup #EXITstrategy #Economy #Eurobond #Eurobonds

Building on the close relationship between the EU and Australia, which was formalised through a bilateral Framework Agreement in 2017, leaders are set to discuss developments related to ongoing efforts to tackle the coronavirus, including the development and provision of vaccines, and the global economic recovery. In this context, they take stock of ongoing negotiations for an EU-Australia Trade Agreement, which were launched in 2018.

The leaders also discuss ways to advance global climate action, cooperate on implementing their respective digital agendas, as well as research and development. The leaders are expected to address common foreign and security challenges and opportunities, including in Asia and the Pacific, the Indian Ocean, Africa, and the EU’s immediate neighbourhood. More information on EU-Australia relations is available in a dedicated factsheet and on the website of the EU Delegation in Canberra.
