Today, the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) kicks off in an entirely digital format. This year, Europe’s biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and energy efficiency is entitled “Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth”. Over the next five days, online sessions and debates will focus on the European Green Deal, the EU Recovery Package and how clean energy policies can help Europe rebound from the crisis. Today, the first-ever European Youth Energy Day will see 18-30-year-olds sharing their ideas with Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans and Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson. Commissioner Simson will deliver a keynote speech during the opening session on Tuesday, 23 June and host the EU Sustainable Energy Week Awards Ceremony, which celebrates outstanding individuals and projects. The Commissioner will also speak at a high-level session on the strategic importance of clean energy technologies, a high-level debate about the greening of the EU recovery, and at a session on “Women in the Energy Transition”. You can find the full programme and participate in the EUSEW online. Registration is still open here. All speeches from Executive Vice-President Timmermans and Commissioner Simsonwill be available online.
