Background

Following a prior request from EU leaders, the Commission presented on 15 June a Communication on the early lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic over the past 18 months. The ten lessons identified are not exhaustive, but provide a first snapshot of what needs to be acted upon at EU and national level. The topic is also on the agenda of the 24-25 June European Council meeting. The Commission is expected to follow up with concrete measures in the second half of 2021.
