President von der Leyen to discuss bilateral relations with China at 25th Summit in Beijing

On 24 July, President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa along with High Representative/Vice President Kaja Kallas will be in China for the 25th Summit. There, President von der Leyen together with President Costa will meet President Xi Jinping and followed by a meeting with Premier Li Qiang.

As the EU and China mark the 50th anniversary of their relations in 2025, the Summit will be an opportunity for leaders to discuss the bilateral relationship in all its aspects, including trade and investment, climate, energy and environment, digital matters, as well as global and geopolitical issues.

Following the Summit, President von der Leyen and President Costa will hold a press conference at 14:00 CEST, broadcasted on EBS.

The Summit takes place following the EU-China Strategic Dialogue on 2 July, the EU-China High-Level Dialogue on Environment and Climate on 14 July, as well as the EU-China Human Rights Dialogue on 14 June.
