Italy: PM quits with scathing attack on populist Salvini

The Italian Prime Minister has said he will resign tonight – blaming his rebellious and controversial deputy, Matteo Salvini.
Addressing the Italian Senate, Giuseppe Conte launched a blistering attack on his coalition partner, calling him “irresponsible” and saying he had created a political crisis for “personal and party interests.” Mr Salvini leads the far right-wing League party which has become popular for its strong anti-immigration rhetoric.
