Ursula von der Leyen makes final pledges to secure EU’s top job
The European Union’s nominee to head the European Commission, Germany’s Ursula von der Leyen, addresses members of the European Parliament, who will later vote on whether they approve her as EU executive’s new leader.
The Commission president-in-waiting requires the support of at least 376 MEPs, so set about trying to please individual political blocs in the Parliament.
