We want more stability. We want more predictability. We want to demonstrate our full solidarity with Greece and Cyprus to defend and protect our sovereign rights. Several options are on the table. We are ready to engage positively and will have the opportunity to decide which direction will allow the EU to meet our objectives.

EU leaders meet in Brussels for a Special European Council. The meeting starts on Thursday at 15:00 with the traditional exchange of views with the President of the European Parliament. At their first working session the EU heads of state and government discuss about relations with China, following the EU-China summit on 22 June 2020 and the leaders’ meeting with President Xi on 14 September 2020. The leaders are also expected to discuss other foreign affairs issues, in particular the situation in Belarus, the poisoning of Alexei Navalny and the Nagorno-Karabakh escalation. Afterwards, the EU leaders hold a strategic discussion on relations with Turkey and on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On Friday, the working discussion are about the single market, industrial policy and the digital transformation. The European Council is expected to adopt conclusions on these matters. Besides, they also discuss the relations with UK.
