Leo Alders has been CEO of LAT Nitrogen since 2021, a leading European provider of nitrogen-based products in the fertilizer and industrial chemical market. Leo has led the company from its former business ownership by Borealis to its current position within the AGROFERT holding structure. During this divestment process, Leo combined the roles of COO and CEO. Prior to joining Borealis in 1994, Leo held positions with Philips Electronics, Bayer and Neste Chemicals. His career at Borealis included several leadership positions in Operations, Maintenance & Engineering and Process Safety. Leo was appointed Vice President Base Chemicals in 2018, before moving to his role as COO of the Nitrogen Division within Borealis.
End 2023, the members of Fertilizers Europe elected Leo Alders as Chairman of the Board.
Leo holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Science from the Thomas More University of Mechelen and a Post Graduate in Polymer Science from the University of Ghent. He is Belgian, married and has four children.
