Joan Canton is Head of Unit for Raw Materials Policy and Energy-Intensive Industries (GROW I.1) at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), where he oversees work on energy-intensive industries and raw materials. Previously, he served as a Member of Commissioner Thierry Breton’s Cabinet, where his responsibilities included industrial policy, critical raw materials, energy-intensive industries and clean technologies. Joan Canton has been a European civil servant since 2009 and holds a PhD in Economics from Aix-Marseille University.
