Commission appoints new Secretary-General and reshuffles its senior management

Today the European Commission appointed Mr Alexander Italianer as new Secretary-General, following Catherine Day’s decision to retire from active service. The Commission also decided on the reshuffle of posts within its senior management team to ensure effective delivery on the policy priorities set out by President Jean-Claude Juncker. This decision follows a consultation process set in motion by the President in March 2015. Continuity and change being equally important for the success of this College, a significant number of current senior managers will be taking on new responsibilities. Detailed information is available in the press release in ENFR and DE.
