Delegations

No parliamentary meetings are scheduled in Brussels, as the week is set aside for committee delegations conducting visits linked to topics falling under their responsibility.

Internal Market and Consumer Protection/Singapore. A delegation of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee will travel to Singapore to discuss customs as the country is the world’s biggest port for goods, many of these destined for the EU market. The delegation will also look into Singapore’s experience in the transformation into a digital economy, as well as consumer protection in digital markets (Monday to Friday).

Transport/Italy. The Transport and Tourism Committee will go to Italy, particularly to Genoa, a main European gateway port in the Mediterranean Sea, and later to Florence, a touristic hub, to take stock of developments in trans-European projects. MEPs are planning also to visit Hitachi Rail, a global brand that produces innovative high-speed trains (Monday to Wednesday).

International Trade/South Africa. A delegation of the Committee on International Trade and the Chair of the Delegation for relations with South Africa will travel to Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town to discuss the implementation of the EU-Southern African Development Community (SADC) Economic Partnership Agreement and further regional integration (Monday to Friday).

Development policy/Kenya. A delegation of the Committee on Development will visit Nairobi and projects in the region to assess the impact of EU support for Kenya’s development goals. MEPs will meet with counterparts from the Kenyan parliament, as well as representatives of the Kenyan government and administration, as well as undertake site visits to several EU-funded projects (Monday to Wednesday).
